【English report】PCCP contributes! Guarantee the safe water supply of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project for the 7th anniversary!
On December 12 th 2021, the South-to-North Water Diversion Project marked the 7th anniversary of its comprehensive water supply. Relevant data show that in the past seven years, the project has transferred a total of 49.4 billion cubic meters of water, benefiting more than 40 large and medium-sized cities and more than 280 counties (autonomous regions and municipalities) along 7 provinces and cities including Henan, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Anhui and Shandong, with a population of 140 million.
As of December 12, 2021, the first phase of the East and Middle Lines has transferred 49.4 billion cubic meters of water, of which the first phase of the east, central line project has transferred over 44.1 billion cubic meters of water, and the first phase of the east line project has transferred 5.288 billion cubic meters of water into Shandong Province.
According to the statistics of relevant departments, in the past 7 years, the South-to-North Water Diversion Project has transferred nearly 50 billion cubic meters of water to the North, calculated by the national average water consumption of 70.4 cubic meters per 10,000 RMB of GDP from 2016 to 2019, which effectively supported the growth of 7 trillion RMB of GDP in the water receiving area, enhanced the economic potential of the northern region, and provided a strong water resource guarantee for the implementation of regional coordinated development strategies such as coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Xiong'an new area construction, ecological protection of the Yellow River basin and high-quality development.
Behind this brilliant achievement, there is a credit of PCCP. It is the systems built by PCCP that connect different places and stretch thousands of miles, bringing the fresh water to thousands of households.
In 2002, the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, which attracted worldwide attention, officially started, spanning thousands of miles of rivers and mountains, connecting the north and south river systems. Central Line Project of South-to-North Water Diversion transfers water from Danjiangkou Reservoir to Henan, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin and other places along the route, with a total water supply mileage of 1,400 kilometers; On the east line of the project, water is transferred from Yangtze River and Dongping Lake to Tianjin Beidagang and Weihai, Shandong Province respectively, with a total water transfer mileage of over 1,800 kilometers, of which 1,200 kilometers of PCCP water pipeline is built, with the diameter range of DN1000-DN4000 and the pressure level of 0.8 MPa -1.6 MPa. The emergency water supply project of Beijing-Shijiazhuang section is the largest PCCP project in China at present, with a pipeline diameter of 4 meters and a total length of 55 kilometers, accounting for 70% of the total line length of Beijing section, and a total length of 110 kilometers of double-line pipelines laid in the same groove. Pipeline with large diameter, thick covering depth, high bearing pressure, high structural requirements and higher construction standards are great challenges for all contractors.
